Dear Sir or Madam,
I wish to apply for the position of Actuarial Analyst Intern. Please find enclosed my CV for your consideration.
As you can see from my attached CV, I have completed a PhD degree in Actuarial Science at University of Kent with the title: Insurance Loss Coverage under Restricted Risk Classification. Prior to this, I have also obtained a Distinction Master degree in Applied Actuarial Science and a First Class (Hons) Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science. I believe the knowledge and skills built up during this time make me the perfect candidate for the role.
The position particularly interests me because of my passion for actuarial risk management. As part of my research degree, using statistics software, I have systematically analysed insurance risks, in particular adverse selection as a result of using different risk factors in insurance underwriting. I have co-authored several papers on this topic and successfully presented my research outcomes at a number of international conferences attended by academics and audiences with different backgrounds. The skills I learned have given me an excellent foundation for building a career as an Actuary.
Aside from my degree, I have built upon my interest in this field in a number of ways. I have completed several internships in life insurance companies, national banks and international personal banks, which has allowed me to put my theory for the subject into practice. Aside from this, I have also participated and co-authored a research report for an insurance company on international personal wealth flows, which has given me a much more rounded view on writing financial report and risk analysis.
I am confident that I can bring this level of expertise with me to the client and help providing tailored services to the customers. Add to this my passion and enthusiasm for actuarial science, and I believe my contribution will have an immediate impact on the business.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss my application further.
Yours sincerely,
Mingjie Hao
